Healthy Mind Body Integration
Somatic therapy is a body-centered healing approach that moves beyond traditional talk therapy by focusing on how trauma and emotional stress are physically "stored" in the body. The body carries emotional "holding patterns" and memories that the conscious mind may not recall. It addresses the body's physiological responses first (bottom-up) to help shift emotional and mental states, unlike traditional "top-down" cognitive approaches. A primary goal is to guide the body out of fight, flight, or freeze survival modes and into a balanced, calm state.
Clients build the ability to sense internal signals (heartbeat, tension) without judgment, which facilitates the safe release of trauma in very small, manageable pieces.
